Brian practices Canadian Immigration and Refugee law. Brian helps foreigners come to Canada to visit/travel, study, work, invest or immigrate. He can also help local companies hire foreign workers, reunite permanent residents and citizens with their loved ones from abroad, and help make refugee claims. While in law school, Brian worked for Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and has a passion for immigration law.
Brian has also practiced personal injury law, where he has helped clients who have been injured in car accidents, slip and falls, dog bites, sporting accidents, and assaults. He also manages occupier’s liability cases, and assisted in matters involving psychological and emotional injuries. Brian has a broad understanding of personal injury and insurance claims, having worked at WorkSafeBC, Workers Compensation Appeals Tribunal, and acted for the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. As you can see, Brian is passionate about helping people with important, sometimes life altering events in their lives. Brian’s level of kindness, compassion and empathy is evident to his clients no matter how he helps in whatever area of the law he is practicing.
Brian is also an advocate for LGBT rights and HIV/AIDS, and active on several national executive committees in these areas. Brian is a 4th generation Canadian whose parents came from Macau and Hong Kong. He was born and raised in Vancouver. Brian is able to communicate fluently in English and Cantonese, and is conversant in Mandarin. He has a strong international perspective with close ties to Asia. Brian enjoys cycling, snowboarding, cooking, playing the piano, travelling, and he is also a competitive bodybuilder.
