The Canadian business visa is also known as a visitor visa and is a type of Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). It allows foreigners to enter Canada for business purposes, without entering the Canadian labour market.
A business visitor can stay up to 6 months in Canada on a Temporary Resident Visa. Longer durations can be approved however, the applicant must not stay for more than 6 months at a time. Based on the application, the temporary visa can be a single entry or a multiple entry visa.
In order to come to Canada as a business visitor, you must apply through the Government of Canada website for a Temporary Resident Visa as a visitor. You will be asked to provide supporting documentation with your application, along with the necessary fees. Once everything is submitted, you must wait for processing, which can take up to three months for approval.
The processing times to obtain a business visitor visa to Canada varies depending on the Embassy you are applying in. It generally takes between 1 – 6 weeks, however applications have been known to take up to 3 months to process. It is advised to apply at least three months in advance to ensure your application is processed in time.
